Terms & content policy
Fiction, and honest about it.
Last updated 7 September 2026
1. Adults only
obsessed.chat is for people aged 18 or over (or the age of majority where you live, if higher). By using it you confirm you meet that requirement. Characters rated Dark-Romance or Explicit ask you to confirm this again before a scene opens.
2. Everything here is fiction
Every character is a fictional adult, written by a human writer and performed by an AI model that stays in the voice that writer gave him. Nothing a character says is advice, a promise, or a real person's opinion. Dark themes — possessive dynamics, tension, explicit scenes between fictional adults — are conventions of the genre, not endorsements of anything in the real world.
3. Hard limits
Some things are refused regardless of how a scene is framed, and the character will step out of the story to say so:
- anyone under 18 in any sexual or romantic context;
- real, named, living people;
- instructions for real-world harm;
- a reader in genuine crisis — the character will point to help instead of continuing the scene.
Attempting to get around these limits is a breach of these terms and may end your access.
4. Your privacy: the lights-off default
Conversations are ephemeral by default. A session's messages are held only for as long as the conversation is active (about thirty minutes after your last message) and then discarded. They are not used to train models.
You can choose to remember a specific moment. Only moments you explicitly mark are stored, tied to an anonymous reader id, so the character can refer back to them. Marking the same moment again forgets it. The writer of the character can see anonymised themes across remembered moments — never your words, never anything that identifies you.
If you hand a character your email address, it is passed to that character's writer so they can reach you about their work. That is the only thing it is used for, and you can ask the writer or us to delete it at any time.
We use privacy-preserving, cookie-free analytics to count visits. We do not sell data.
5. Writers
Writers own their characters and the words that define them (voice bible, backstory, opening lines) and are responsible for that material and for what they do with reader emails they receive. Writers grant obsessed.chat a licence to run their characters on the platform. Characters that breach section 3 will be removed.
6. No guarantees
The service is provided as-is. Characters may be unavailable, may lose the thread, and may say things their author would not. We are not liable for decisions you make because of something a fictional character told you.
7. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above will change when we do. Questions, deletion requests or concerns: hello@obsessed.chat.
